Scripture Read 1 Samuel 16-29
Nugget 1 Samuel 18:12-13, 25
“Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him but had departed from Saul. So Saul removed him from his presence, and made him a commander of a thousand; and David marched out and came in, leading the army. … Then Saul said, ‘Thus you shall say to David, “The king desires no marriage present except a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, that he may be avenged on the king’s enemies.”’ Now Saul planned to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.”
Devotional Thought: Lessons learned and used later are often based on experiences forced upon us by others. We may not be conscious of how and where we learned to do something we find ourselves doing. I’m sure David never thought he would ever use a similar tactic. Wonder if he remembered this time in his life as he sent Uriah back to the front lines? (2 Sam 11:15) Have I/you ever used a bad example? O Lord I pray that I not be tempted to follow sinful lessons learned against others.
