Scripture Read Jeremiah 27-31

Nugget Jeremiah 31: 27,28e; 31,33; 38a,40d

“The days are surely coming, says the LORD, when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of humans and the seed of animals.  . . so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says the LORD. . . . The days are surely coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with house of Israel and the house of Judah.  . .But this is the covenant that I will make with house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. . . . The days are surely coming, says the LORD, when the city shall be rebuilt for the LORD, . . It shall never again be uprooted or overthrown.”

Devotional Thought: Those days are surely here! God offer life abundant to His creation, He watches to see if we choose to participate - build and pant (till and keep). God puts His law within us, establishes boundaries and waits to see if we will be obedient or break our own hearts. Will we worship God, on God’s terms or will we move the ancient boundary stones? “Holiness of heart means transformation by God’s grace, enabling people to be holy, loving, and Christ-like in their relationships with one another and with the land” (Wesleyan Core Term, Holiness of Heart, pg 940, Wesley Study Bible) The days are surely coming, says the Lord!
